Answering your Windows 7 migration questions
Got a question about Windows 7 migration or Dashworks? Email us here.
+Why do I need to migrate to Windows 7 at all?If your enterprise is running Windows XP or Vista, it will become increasingly vulnerable to performance and security issues as Microsoft and third party vendors withdraw support. In addition, you will not be able to take advantage of new applications developed to run on Windows 7.
+Why do I need to migrate to Windows 7 now?Microsoft has already begun withdrawing support for Windows XP, and end-of-life for
Windows XP extended support is scheduled for April 2014. Deferring your organisation’s Windows 7 corporate deployment and desktop rollout strategy is no longer an option, and you can expect to realise productivity and security gains the sooner you begin your desktop transformation program.
+How much time and money can I save by using Dashworks?Users report typical reductions in project management effort of up to 60 per cent. The overall cost of a Windows 7 rollout is typically reduced by up to 15 per cent when compared with traditional approaches to Windows migration.
+Isn’t Dashworks just an application compatibility tool?Dashworks aggregates information from all parts of your business, including application discovery and profiling from specialist tools like ChangeBASE and App-DNA. Dashworks helps you intelligently analyse that information alongside other pertinent data, so that you can make informed decisions as part of your Windows 7 project plan.
+Who uses Dashworks?Since 2008, Juriba has implemented Dashworks for over 500,000 end users across the globe, actively managing the desktop transformation of 200,000 to Windows 7 in 2011. Customers include some of the largest organisations in the world such as JPMorganChase and Fujitsu.
+Can I try Dashworks for myself before I buy?Yes, Juriba offers both a fully functional web demonstration system, proof of concept and on-site services
If you simply want to have a play with Dashworks, you can easily request a demonstration login.
If you are interested in testing out Dashworks with some of your own organisational data, we offer a cloud based solution that is ready to go. All you need to do is provide some of your data in a supported CSV format that Dashworks can understand.
If you are interested in a complete test of Dashworks functionality within your own site, we also offer a fast-start proof of concept service. This means we will install Dashworks onto your own on-premises server/virtual server and can, where supported, import your data from your own live systems on a one-time basis.

+Does Dashworks support migration from operating systems other than Windows XP?Dashworks has been designed as a generic desktop migration project management tool. It just so happens that most enterprises today are migrating from Windows XP to Windows 7.
However, we’ve worked with organisations still migrating from Windows NT and others planning complete desktop virtualisation on Server 2008/Citrix. Dashworks is applicable in pretty much any desktop migration scenario you can imagine.
+What does Dashworks cost? The Dashworks suite of products can be purchased on a number of flexible plans.
The mandatory Analysis system starts at just £2.50 ($4) per user, per annum, and the optional project system also has prices starting at £2.50 ($4) per user, per annum. The optional Dashworks agent starts at just £0.75 ($1.25) per user per annum.
The system can be licensed for anything from one to five years. You may also want to consider complementary implementation services to ensure that Dashworks is configured exactly to your organisational requirements.
+Can I buy Dashworks on a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) basis?Dashworks is available via SaaS but is rarely procured in that manner.
Most organisations that we work with are keen to enhance the base Dashworks data with more critical department and location feeds which drives the preferred implementation to be in-house. If you are interested in exploring Dashworks as a SaaS option, please contact your Juriba representative to discuss further.
